Art Center is excited to provide our youngest artists and entrepreneurs an opportunity to be a vendor and sell their original creations to the public. Art Center is hosting a solo exhibition for painter, Nester Martino-Cruz.

The opening event will take place on November 10 from 6-9pm, and is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Nestor Alexander Martino-Cruz, Jr. Brief Bio: Nestor Alexander Martino, Jr. is a New York based painter from Boston, MA. who studied Fine Art Concentration at BHCC and also attended the Cooper Union School of Art in lower Manhattan. Nestor worked for the Artists for Humanity Paint Studio in South Boston from the age of 14 to 21, producing commissioned pieces for various organizations in and around Boston such as the Boston Children’s Hospital, Northeastern University and Greenway Projects. The very first painting he ever produced sold out of L’Attitude Gallery on Newbury Street in Boston at 14 years of age. Illustrations Nestor produced can be found in the children’s book of poetry titled “Pride In My Stride,” a project he completed for a Boston poet when he was 19. He exhibited in a number of gallery shows in Boston such as the Liquid Art House, the South Middlesex Opportunity Council in the Greater Boston Area and Ideal Glass in New York City. He also produced work alongside other artists for big industry companies and celebrities such as murals for the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, merchandise designs for Zayn Malik of One Direction, and murals for the Harlem legend, fashion icon and Gucci creative director Dapper Dan. After traveling to six new countries (including France, Spain and Israel), living abroad, completing an artist residency and gathering fresh inspiration he is currently getting ready to exhibit in two gallery spaces in Western New York.

Needle felting is a simple, fun (and addicting) way to create small ornaments and treasures. Come fall in love with the craft of needle felting! You will learn how to create soft, sculptural pieces and the skills to create a small creature of your own. The cost of the workshop includes a personal kit to take with you, so you can keep going with your new obsession!

In this workshop will be painting beautiful and interesting gourdes just in time for the crisp autumn air! If you have always wanted to learn the necessary skills to create a painting from start to finish, or just want to carve out time to paint, this workshop is for you. Kaitlin will guide you through the process of drawing a gourde still life and the process of layering acrylic paint. You will learn a variety of paint applications and techniques. Everyone will leave with a 12 x 12” painted canvas and a new passion for painting!

We can help make this happen in our ‘Paint Your Pet’ workshop at Art Center! No prior art experience is necessary. All you have to do is register for the event, email a picture of your critter to email@artcenterrochester.com, and show up!

Each participant will be given a 16x20” canvas, with their pet pre-drawn on it, and be guided in the painting process!

The 1st Annual Irondequoit Arts & Music Festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 11 AM - 8 PM at I Square, 400 Bakers Park.

We will have 30+ vendors and artist as well as live music. In the next few weeks we will have our band list up to see what band is playing at what time. This year our headlining act is The Ron Rocco Band (Black Sheep/Cheater) featuring Jim Crean on vocals (Carmine Appice/HAIR NATION!).

Domesticated is the most recent series of oil paintings by Kaitlin Roney. This body of work is meant to challenge the viewer to consider both their perception of animals and what we view as necessary human comforts.
